GRAND OPENING OF THE NEWLY-RENOVATED CHARLOTTE HOBBS LIBRARY!!!

On Sunday August 15, we all enjoyed the gala ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of our new library! Builder Gary Crowell and his crew pushed hard to the finish, as did the many volunteers who moved all the books, and our librarian Anna Romer who oversaw the move and re-shelved the books! Out-going president of the board Bob Williams made appropriate remarks to a crowd that some estimated to be 250 people of all ages, from the towns of Lovell, Sweden, Stow, Stoneham, and Chatham (NH), all of which are served by the library. Musicians Tom Meyre, Laurie Sheehan and her son Bob Sheehan added greatly to the joy of the occasion. Tom wrote a song especially for the event which we hope to post at a later date. The renovation includes a greatly-expanded children's area ("Children are at the very heart of our library", said Bob in his remarks) is made all the more special by a wonderfully fantastical tree house niche/hidey hole created by Lovell's Roger Williams. There is an enlarged computer area, and the building has wireless access to computers. The new library addition also has a nice 'Community Room' for lectures and gatherings, and is handicap accessible. Thanks to everyone who has helped to make this dream a reality!

Our library has serviced the Greater Lovell Community for over 100 years. Open 44 hours a week, we offer diverse programs for all ages and interests all year long. Services include wireless connectivity, interlibrary loan, fax, copy machine, audio books, video's/DVD's, and of course many, many books. Library cards free for all residents and non-residents.

With the help of the whole community, we are finally able to build a wonderful addition which will serve Lovell and the surrounding towns for years to come. Irene St. Germain has been documenting the construction and has sent several great photos for the website.
